“Do not let your adornment be merely outward – arranging the hair, wearing gold, or putting on fine apparel – rather let it be the hidden person of the heart, with the incorruptible beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is very precious in the sight of the Lord.”
1 Peter 3:3-4
To have a quiet spirit means for our spirits to be undisturbed.
In Proverbs it speaks about us needing to have “rule over our spirits.”
Gentleness also means humility,
And the incorruptible beauty is referring to things which are undecaying, in other words – putting things inside our hearts (and minds) that are of eternal value – not just adding the things that make us “pretty” on the outside, but godly character that will last forever and radiate from within us.
I also totally love how it says that it is VERY precious in the sight of the Lord, not just precious, but VERY precious.
Even tho this passage is directed towards women, I pray we will all be adding to our faith daily the things that really matter, and asking the Lord to change our hearts to be more like His.
Have a lovely weekend!
Happy 4th!!!

“They shall be My people, and I will be their God; then I will give them one heart and one way, that they may fear Me forever, for the good of them and their children after them.
And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will put My fear in their hearts so they will not depart from Me.
Yes, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will assuredly plant them in this land, with all My heart and all My soul.”
Jer 32:38-41
We serve an awesome, passionate and holy God!

From one of my favorite devotionals, “Royal Insignia”.
“No man has any right to offer advise who has not first heard God speak. No man has any right to counsel others who is not ready to hear and follow the counsel of the Lord.
True moral wisdom must always be an echo of God’s voice. The only safe light for our path is the light which is reflected from Christ, the Light of the world.
It is especially important that young people learn whose counsel to trust.
Having been in the world for such a short time they have not had much experience and will look to others for advice.
And whether they know it or not, they do every day accept the opinions of others and adopt them as their own. Those who boast the loudest of their independance have picked up from someone the idea that independence is a virtue, and their very eagerness to be individualistic is the result of the influence of others. They are what they are because of the counsel they have followed.”
“Blessed is the man who does not walk in the counsel of the wicked.” (Psalm 1:1)
God’s spoken word will always align with His written word…
